About Me

I am a graduate of the University of Washington’s Department of Communication, where I received the Pioneer Newspaper Award for Outstanding Feature Journalism. I have written for KOMO-TV, Seattle magazine, and PEPS (Program for Early Parent Support). I am an active member and former mentor for the Women’s Fiction Writers Association (WFWA) and past delegate of the Deep Dive Workshop from the popular podcast, The Shit No One Tells You About Writing. I live in Seattle with my family, where I take many walks, cook colorful things, and cuddle my emotional support bulldog, Winston.

Work With Me

Are you writing with the goal to traditionally publish a novel? From drafting and revising two novels to finding my writing community and succeeding in the hyper-competitive query trenches, I’m excited to share what I’ve learned about crafting prose and a query package that stand out from the pack.

While querying my first novel, I had a 21% request rate with agents (of the 89 agents I queried, 19 requested my full or partial manuscript). According to QueryTracker, the average request rate is 4.9%.

Questions or interested in booking a service? Fill out the Contact Me form below and I’ll be in touch!

Testimonials

“Beth has a magical way of connecting people and providing a space of support. Joining her free Zoom writing groups might feel intimidating but I am glad I took the chance and will definitely be back!”

Kate T.
Zoom Writing Group Member

“In the months before I began querying, Beth offered invaluable insights into the process and agreed to read my query letter, which she returned with incredibly helpful revisions and questions to consider. I revised the query letter using her comments, and I ended up signing with an agent later that year. I am eternally grateful for Beth’s keen eye and generous help!”

Hayley F.
Soon-to-be-published Author

“Beth reviewed my query materials with acute attention to detail and the perfect balance between perceptive critique and validation. Her line level edits were sharp and thoughtful, and her notes led me to consider my work in a new, more thoughtful way. Beth’s proven track record in the query trenches means that she also understands the strategy involved with querying literary agents, and she’s been a huge support to me throughout my querying journey.”

Sophie S.
Agented Author

“Beth offered clear and easy-to-understand guidelines on what agents are looking for, appropriate word counts, as well as what to include and omit in both my query letter and synopsis. Not only did her advice greatly benefit the specific project she was guiding me through, but I could also apply it to my other works.”

Jonathan B.
Former WFWA Mentee

“I highly recommend working with Beth; her breadth of knowledge backed by her compassion make her an excellent editor. She has a keen eye toward storytelling on a big picture level as well as at the line level. The revision process is often overwhelming, but Beth provides clear and well-organized notes as well as actionable feedback, which empower the writer to take the next steps with confidence.”
